Five years ago, Saquon Barkley, the running back for the New York Giants, transitioned his marketing representation from Roc Nation to CAA. Interestingly, CAA is now involved in negotiating his football contract as well. The NFLPA records indicate that Barkley is currently represented by Kim Miale of Roc Nation and Ed Perry of CAA. According to a source familiar with the matter, Perry joined the negotiating team in mid-June. This change suggests that Barkley may have had some concerns about the level of service he was receiving, although he didn’t sever ties with Roc Nation. Recent reports suggested that the Giants offered Barkley $13 million annually before applying the franchise tag, while Barkley reportedly sought $16 million per year. While Barkley disputed these claims, the proposed figures seem reasonable given the circumstances. Although Barkley is not obligated to disclose the details of the offers, his tweet of two cap emojis seems somewhat hollow if he isn’t willing to share the truth, assuming he is aware of it himself.
