The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines confirmed that a Cessna plane carrying two passengers disappeared after departing from Ilocos Norte. The Tuguegarao airport reported the aircraft missing on Tuesday afternoon. The flight’s intended route was from Laoag, passing through Cauayan, and finally landing in Tuguegarao. The last known location of the plane was northwest of Alcala, Cagayan, approximately 40 kilometers from Tuguegarao, at 2:37 p.m. on August 1, flying at an altitude of 7,500 ft. Despite the absence of distress signals, no communication was established with the passengers. Initial search efforts by Tuguegarao authorities at nearby aerodromes yielded no results, partly due to adverse weather conditions affecting a missionary chopper’s search and rescue operations. CAAP plans to continue the search the following day and investigate the incident through its Aircraft Accident Investigation and Inquiry Board.
